Spring Tree Care
Spring is just around the corner here in the Finger Lakes!
It’s time for Spring Tree Care.
-
As the weather warms up, it's the perfect time to ensure your trees are healthy, strong, and ready for the season ahead. Whether it's trimming, health assessments, or pest control, we’ve got you covered.
-
The wear and tear of Winter snow and ice, combined with the heavy gusting winds our lake region and surrounding Rochester areas experience, particularly in seasonal change, can wreak havoc on trees. Broken and dead branches and debris from deceased trees can be unsightly and, at times, worrisome.
-
Before bud break is an ideal time to trim out damaged branches and prune to shape many tree species.
The overall health of a tree is always increased when the structure of the tree is free of debris, allowing more airflow and sunlight into the canopy.
-
Moths, fungi, and other diseases.
In our world of trees, the approaching Spring weather also makes us think of insect, pest, and disease problems. Spongy (formerly known as Gypsy) Moths (Lymantria dispar), Spotted Lanternfly (Lycorma delicatula), and more, awaken, mobilize, and begin eating away. Spring rains sitr up fungi in the duff under evergreens sparking needle cast, and Black Knot rears it’s head on cherry trees and ornamental trees.
We have various spray and injection treatments appropriate for use in early Spring. Treatments are carefully curated by our Certified Pest Technician/Arborist, specific to your tree’s needs and location.
We care for the environment and your family, taking thoughtful consideration to the impacts of tree care treatments we use. Our go-to Gypsy / Spongy Moth spray is safe for all pollinators, people, and pets – in fact, it is certified by the USDA National Organic Program, meaning it is so safe organic farmers use it as well to help control caterpillar and other problems.

Standing dead trees.
Standing dead trees are, unfortunately, particularly prominent in our area due to the Emerald Ash Borer (Agrilus planipennis or EAB) decimation of our Ash (Fraxinus) trees. While preventative treatments are available and meet with fair success (send us a note if you’d like to learn more on treatment), many of these established and celebrated trees are beyond saving.
Completing removal of any deceased trees as part of Spring lawn care gives a head start to a more enjoyable and beautiful Summer.
